Okay, okay, I know. More than two months have passed since my last entry and there is no excuse. I was reminded twice this week that there are a few followers and they inspired me to get back at it. So to them, thank you!
Last year we had some fun with a little contest that centered around losing weight. Now that we have a re-committed group at both clubs and holidays are in the rear view mirror, we figured we would run the contest again. I hear a lot from people that it is not fair to run this during spring break which means vacations for some. But, with life and all that comes with celebrating it-whether it be birthdays, spring break, holidays, good weather and longer days-it begs the question, "When is a good time to change eating habits?" My answer is that there is no better time than right now.
I cannot think of a time of the year that lasts for more than a few days or weeks that creates an "opening" to break free and make a lifestyle change. It all starts with something to create momentum to make a change. For some, maybe it is Lent. Others it is good weather, reminding them that bathing suit season is nearly upon us, others it is something else completely different. Most of us can stand to eat better, eat more colorful things, eat less. Man, is that easier said than done!
We just want to create a supportive atmosphere for those interested in starting that momentum! We have about 25 brave souls that have joined in the weight loss challenge this month. I am sure it not the $50 gift card that got people interested. It is that people want help. They want a nudge, a push in the right direction. Here is the nudge.
The same theme exists for exercise. People listen to the radio, watch TV, look everywhere and are reminded the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and keeping moving. I am buoyed every day by the members who come in and tell me their story. Many similar lines exist among them but each unique in its own. What comes through loud and clear is that the Koko system provides that nudge every day for over 300 people in our membership.
Stronger, leaner, healthier. That's what we do.
